CUMMING, Georgia — Authorities have identified a teenage girl who was killed in a car crash over the weekend.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim as 13-year-old Kayla Pirkle. Sheriff's officials have said a car being driven by Pirkle's 19-year-old sister turned into the path of a pickup truck on Saturday afternoon.

Pirkle was a student at Little Mill Middle School and principal Connie McCrary tells the Forsyth News (http://bit.ly/OOKXbh ) that counselors will be on campus throughout the week. McCrary says the Fellowship of Christian Athletes organized a vigil for Pirkle Monday morning.

Sheriff's spokesman Doug Rainwater says Pirkle's death was Forsyth County's first traffic fatality of 2014. The crash is under investigation and charges haven't been filed.
