Walkup's 22 points, Floyd's career-high 21 lead SFA in win over Shreveport 88-64

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Thomas Walkup scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Stephen F. Austin coasted to an 88-64 win over Shreveport on Sunday.

Demetrious Floyd added a career-high 21 points, Clide Geffrard had 11, and Jared Johnson 10 for SFU (1-2), which hit 29 of 58 from the floor in its home opener. Ty Charles hauled in 10 rebounds.

Shreveport, a NAIA program that trailed by double digits early in the game, chipped away through the first half and tied it up with a bucket from Lyndale James that made it 28-all with 1:52 left before the break.

SFA responded with a 16-2 run stretching across both sides of the break. The margin never dipped below double figures again.

James led Shreveport with 18 points and Manny Martin added 10.
