Baton Rouge man booked in fatal stabbed of his girlfriend in their home Saturday

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana — Police say a 40-year-old Baton Rouge man who was engaged to be married has been arrested after police say he fatally stabbed his girlfriend.

Cpl. Don Coppola tells The Advocate ( ) William Jackson told officers Saturday that he killed 32-year-old Lekeisha Duncan after an argument.

Before the admission, Coppola says Jackson first tried to hide any evidence that might link him to the stabbing. Coppola says Jackson had apparently changed out of a bloody shirt, washed the knife and then threw the knife into a trash can.

Duncan was pronounced dead at the scene, while Jackson was taken to the hospital with minor stab wounds.

On Wednesday, Jackson was released from a hospital and booked with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.

It was unclear whether he has an attorney.
