Gamba Osaka beats Urawa Reds to reach championship final in J-League

SAITAMA, Japan — Hiroki Fujiharu and Brazilian striker Patric scored in extra time as Gamba Osaka beat Urawa Reds 3-1 on Saturday to advance to the J-League's championship final.

Yasuyuki Konno put Gamba ahead two minutes after the break and substitute Zlatan Ljubijankic equalized for Urawa in the 72nd minute.

Fujiharu made it 2-1 for Gamba 13 minutes into the second extra period and Patric sealed victory when he beat the offside trap and steered in a through ball from Yasuhito Endo.

Gamba won a domestic treble last season and reached the playoff this year after finishing third behind Sanfrecce Hiroshima and Reds in the overall standings.

Gamba will face Hiroshima in the first leg of the final on Wednesday. The championship concludes on Dec. 5.
