State police: Infant dies after 2 vehicle collision on US 61 at La. 73 in Ascension Parish

PRAIRIEVILLE, Louisiana — State police say a 5-month-old infant died after a two-vehicle collision on U.S. 61 at Louisiana Highway 73 in Ascension Parish.

Sgt. Jared L. Sandifer says the child, Emanuel Lange Jr., was properly secured in a car driven by 35-year-old Tennille Willis, of Baton Rouge.

Sandifer says Willis was driving through the intersection on a green light.

He says 31-year-old Adria M. Brignac, of St. Amant, driving an SUV south on U.S. 61, attempted to make a left turn onto La. 73, pulling into the path of the car.

Sandifer says the SUV struck the car on its driver's side, causing it to leave the highway and strike a traffic light pole.

Brignac was cited with improper left turn at an intersection.

Sandifer says the crash remains under investigation.
