Police: Train hits pickup truck that drove onto tracks after missing driveway in central Pa.

STATE COLLEGE, Pennsylvania — Police say a man accidentally drove a pickup truck onto train tracks after missing a driveway in central Pennsylvania, but escaped unharmed before the vehicle was hit by an oncoming train.

The Centre Daily Times reports (http://bit.ly/1aj9Wd0 ) it happened in Union Township around 1 a.m. Saturday.

Police say 22-year-old Coty Johnson tried to turn the truck into a driveway, but missed. The vehicle ended up stuck in a ditch next to railroad tracks. Investigators say a Norfolk Southern locomotive then hit the front of the truck, which was sticking out onto the tracks. Johnson was able to escape before impact.

Investigators say Johnson appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Police say he'll be charged pending blood test results. It couldn't immediately be determined if he had an attorney.
