Anderson County deputies look for suspects after man dies in backyard shooting

ANDERSON, South Carolina — A 40-year-old man is dead after being shot several times in the backyard of an Anderson home.

Authorities said Clarence Sullivan was found injured around 3 a.m. Monday and died a short time later at the hospital.

Anderson County deputies say they are interviewing witnesses and still trying to determine a motive for the shooting. Investigators don't think the shooting was random. Someone scratched "I hate you" and profanities into Sullivan's car last month.

No arrests have been made.

An autopsy has been ordered on Sullivan.
