Wash. patrol completes investigation of Snohomish Co. executive; no charging recommendation

OLYMPIA, Wash. — The Washington State Patrol says it has completed its investigation of Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon, and it's forwarding its findings to a prosecutor's office.

The patrol launched the investigation at the request of the Snohomish County prosecutor over allegations that Executive Aaron Reardon misused public funds. A woman who has told reporters she had a six-year affair with the married Reardon estimates he spent at least $1,500 of taxpayer money on her when she accompanied him on official trips.

The Island County prosecutor's office is reviewing the findings of investigators because the Snohomish County prosecutor's office is recused. The patrol did not make a recommendation about whether charges should be filed.

Reardon's attorney, John Wolfe, said Friday his client has committed no crimes.
