NEW HAVEN, Connecticut — Police say one person was killed and another seriously injured in an early morning car crash.

Police say a driver lost control of a vehicle and struck a tree around 2:30 a.m. at an intersection near the Episcopal Church of St. Paul and St. James. The driver died at the scene.

A passenger suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Police haven't released their identities.

Police say speed and weather appear to have been factors in the crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
