Ripe for victory: Red Vine takes Aqueduct feature

NEW YORK — Red Vine rallied to beat Kid Cruz by three lengths Wednesday in the $81,000 allowance feature for older runners at Aqueduct.

Rating comfortably in fourth while 2-1 favorite Mail set the pace, Red Vine took charge a furlong from the finish for his second straight Aqueduct victory, the fourth in 15 starts overall.

Manny Franco was aboard for trainer Christophe Clement as the 5-year-old covered the mile in 1:36.43 on the fast track.

Red Vine paid $11.80, $5.60 and $3.10. Kid Cruz returned $4.80 and $2.90 while Three Alarm Fire paid $2.30 to show.

Mail finished fifth.
