Victim of Wednesday shooting identified as New Orleans man


NEW ORLEANS — The coroner's office has identified a man shot to death Wednesday in the city's Algiers section as 52-year-old Eddie Salvant III.

Investigators say someone opened fire on Salvant at about 4 p.m. near Eliza and Leboeuf streets. He died on the scene from multiple gunshot wounds, coroner's chief investigator John Gagliano tells The New Orleans Advocate (

Police have not identified a motive or suspect in Salvant's slaying.
