Pedestrian crossing Brooklyn street dies after being hit by car

NEW YORK — A pedestrian crossing a Brooklyn street was killed after being hit by a car.

The woman was crossing Fourth Avenue in Brooklyn shortly before 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Authorities say a man driving southbound changed lanes to avoid being hit by another car and hit the woman, who has not been identified.

She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the car went to the nearest police precinct to report the incident.
