Flagstaff winter parking restrictions meant to make streets more navigable for snow plows

FLAGSTAFF, Arizona — Flagstaff's winter parking restrictions go into effect Sunday.

The restrictions last until April 1 and require vehicles to be off most Flagstaff streets between midnight and 7 a.m. Vehicles in the downtown business district must be gone by 3 a.m.

The parking ordinance is meant to allow snow plows to navigate the streets more easily when a storm hits and for street sweepers to clean up cinders between storms.

Authorities say the owners of vehicles that violate the ordinance can be cited. Vehicles also could be towed.

Flagstaff police say officers will determine if a vehicle is obstructing a snow plow before having it towed. They might also try to reach the vehicle owner to move it.
