Millard North holds off Millard West on final play, wins 21-14 in Class A championship game


LINCOLN, Nebraska — Ethan Morrison passed for two touchdowns and ran for another, and No. 4 Millard North held off No. 1 Millard West on the last play for a 21-14 victory in the Class A championship game at Memorial Stadium on Tuesday night.

Millard West started its final possession at its own 19 with 30 seconds to play and moved to the Mustangs 24. Shae Wyatt then picked up 21 yards on a pass from Logan Anderjaska, but he fumbled at the Millard North 3 and Jack Begley recovered for the Mustangs with no time left.

Millard North (11-2) got out to a 21-0 lead, with Morrison running for a 1-yard touchdown and throwing scoring passes of 9 yards to Andrew Wine and 29 yards to Aaron Gerdes.

Millard West (12-1) scored twice in the fourth quarter on Luke Lallman's 3-yard run and Anderjaska's 4-yard pass to Preston Humphrey.

Adrian Kellogg ran 10 times for 82 yards, and Morrison had 23 carries for 65 yards and completed 8 of 9 passes for 113 yards.

Anderjaska led Millard West rushers with 71 yards on 16 carries, and he passed for 159 yards.
