SEATTLE — Seattle police say one man was seriously wounded in a Wednesday evening shooting in the city's University District and officers have arrested one man and detained two other people.

Officers found a man lying near an alley with a single gunshot wound after gunfire was reported shortly after 5 p.m. The 40-year-old victim was reported in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center.

Police searched for several vehicles reported as fleeing the scene moments after the shooting. They performed two high-risk stops and initially detained five people. Two of those people were later released.
