Bordeaux beats last-place Evian 2-1 to move provisionally back to top of French league

PARIS — Bordeaux beat last-place Evian 2-1 on Friday to move provisionally back to the top of the French league.

Coach Willy Sagnol's side, which won its opening three matches before dropping points with a draw and a defeat, has 13 points after six rounds. But Lille can move back to the top by one point if it beats Montpellier at home on Sunday.

Uruguayan forward Diego Rolan scored his fourth goal in six league games this season after side-footing in Nicolas Maurice-Belay's cross from the left in the 19th minute, and Wahbi Khazri doubled the lead 10 minutes into the second half when he controlled a long ball from Jaroslav Plasil and curled it passed goalkeeper Jesper Hansen.

Costa Rican midfielder Yeltsin Tejeda pulled a goal back for Evian late on.
