WARREN, Ohio — A northeast Ohio judge has granted a request to consolidate three lawsuits filed by the relatives or estates of five boys killed in a crash and a young man who survived.
The case against the city of Warren is scheduled for a pretrial hearing in early May, more than two years after the crash there.
Investigators determined a sport utility vehicle sped down a two-lane road at nearly twice the 35-mph speed limit and flipped into a pond on March 10, 2013. The 19-year-old driver and five of the seven boys riding with her died.
The boys' relatives and one survivor allege the city didn't properly maintain the road and guardrail. The city denies that.
Trumbull County's engineer also was named but was voluntarily dropped from the case last week.
