Borussia Dortmund buys midfielder Nuri Sahin back from Real Madrid after nearly 1½-year loan

DORTMUND, Germany — Borussia Dortmund is buying midfielder Nuri Sahin back from Real Madrid.

Dortmund says its officials informed their Madrid counterparts on the sidelines of the Champions League quarterfinals that the Bundesliga club will use an option to buy Sahin. It gave no details of the deal.

The German-born Turkey midfielder helped lead Dortmund to the first of two consecutive Bundesliga titles in 2011 and then left for Real Madrid, where his career was slowed by a knee injury.

Following a spell on loan at Liverpool, he returned to Dortmund in January 2013 on a loan deal through the end of this season.
