SALT LAKE CITY — Authorities say a Utah man accused of killing his 4-year-old stepson punched, bit and tried to gouge the eye of a jail guard.
The Standard-Examiner of Ogden reports (http://bit.ly/1d8DSrQ ) the 35-year-old Nathanael Sloop has been charged with assault on an officer for the Nov. 21 incident.
Davis County Sheriff Todd Richardson says the altercation happened when Sloop refused to go into lockdown at the end of the day.
Sloop is on jail on murder charges. He and his wife are accused of malnourishing and abusing his stepson for days before his death in 2010.
Sloop is also accused of using a hammer to disfigure Ethan Stacy's face and burying his body in the northern Utah mountains.
