Ohio man charged in slayings linked to bogus Craigslist job ads speaks to judge in court

AKRON, Ohio — A northeast Ohio man jailed as he awaits trial in a deadly scheme involving bogus Craigslist job ads has told a judge he has trouble getting pain medications needed for his back problems.

The Akron Beacon Journal (http://bit.ly/KaDcUS ) reports Wednesday marked the first time 52-year-old Richard Beasley has spoken more than a few words in open court.

The self-styled chaplain was cuffed to a wheelchair and held a cane as he appeared in county court. The judge said she'd discuss the pain medication with a jail administrator.

Beasley is suspected in the shooting deaths of three people who authorities say were lured to a rural area by bogus job ads on Craigslist. Beasley has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges.

A teenager is charged with helping in the scheme.
