Ohio firefighters say woman killed, 4 injured in early morning apartment blaze near Cincinnati

NORTH COLLEGE HILL, Ohio — Firefighters say a woman has died and four others were injured in an early morning apartment fire north of Cincinnati.

North College Hill firefighters say a woman and child jumped to safety from the second-floor window of the townhome apartment after the fire began early Wednesday morning. Another child escaped out the apartment's back door. All three were taken to a hospital for minor injuries.

A fire official says firefighters tried to reach the trapped 29-year-old woman with a ladder, but fire flashed up from the first floor before she could be reached. A firefighter was treated for burned hands.

Investigators were at the scene trying to determine the cause of the fire. No other information was immediately available.
