National Guard rescues 2 from Montague Island when plane flips after landing

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Two people walked away after their plane flipped on Montague Island.

The Alaska National Guard in a release says rescuers found the pilot and passenger early Monday morning in Patton Bay. They told Guardsman they intended to go beach combing but their plane flipped after landing.

Rescuers were notified when they didn't arrive back in Soldotna when their flight plan indicated.

The two people, who weren't identified, told rescuers they were fine but were released to a hospital in Soldotna for further evaluation.
