University of North Dakota men's hockey team takes over No. 1 ranking in both national polls

GRAND FOKS, North Dakota — The University of North Dakota men's hockey team has taken over the top spot in both national polls.

UND was ranked second last week in both the and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls. Coach Dave Hakstol's team received 29 of 50 first--place votes in the USCHO poll and 28 of 30 first-place votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey poll.

It's the first time UND has been atop either poll since April 2011, when it advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four in St. Paul, Minnesota.

UND faces unraked Lake Superior State in two games this weekend at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks.
