Gillette man gets at least 55 years in prison for kidnapping, sexually assaulting wife

GILLETTE, Wyoming — A 53-year-old Gillette man who was convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting his wife in January 2014 has been sentenced to at least 55 years in prison.

The Gillette News Record reports District Judge Thomas W. Rumpke sentenced the man to 55 to 62 years for kidnapping and concurrent terms of 20 to 40 years for each of two sexual assault convictions during a Feb. 27 hearing.

The man was found guilty in October after his wife testified that he duct-taped her, tied her to the bed and threatened to kill her and himself if she did not perform sexual acts on him.

The Associated Press is not naming the man because his relationship with the woman would identify a victim of sexual assault.
