PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — Providence police say weekend gun violence appears to have been gang-related.

Five shootings that injured two people were reported between early Sunday morning and Sunday night.

Police are searching for suspects after a man was shot three times in a drive-by shooting just before 9 p.m. Earlier that morning, shots were fired near a club, sending a 22-year-old man to the hospital.

Major David Lapatin says police believe the shooting started inside the club and led outdoors. He says it' closed until Wednesday and the Licenses Board has begun an emergency hearing.

Police plan to step up patrols in the vicinity of the shootings where they've had problems in the past.
