Maine gas prices up 2 cents per gallon, yet remain below the national average

AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine residents are paying more at the pump, as gas prices have risen more than 2 cents per gallon.

Price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com reports Monday that the average retail price of a gallon of gas in Maine is up to $3.51.

The good news is that prices nationally have risen more than 6 cents on average in the past week, and Maine residents are paying six cents less per gallon than the national average of $3.57.

In-state prices are now more than 28 cents lower than at this time last year and almost 8 cents lower than a month ago.

The averages are based on a survey of more than 1,200 Maine gas stations.
