Rock County circuit judge Daley announces bid for Wisconsin Supreme Court

MADISON, Wisconsin — Rock County Circuit Judge James Daley has announced his candidacy for the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Daley announced his campaign Monday in Janesville. He is seeking the seat currently held by Justice Ann Walsh Bradley, who is also running.

If more than two candidates qualify for the ballot, they will square off in a Feb. 17 primary. The general election is April 7.

The 67-year-old Daley says in a press release that if elected he will work to uphold the state and U.S. constitutions, and be an "independent voice focused on applying the rule of law."

Daley was appointed by Republican Gov. Tommy Thompson in 1989. The race is officially nonpartisan, although partisan interests have been heavily involved in recent Supreme Court elections.
