Florida man sentenced to 30 years in prison for fatal blow outside Louisiana nightclub

LAKE CHARLES, La. — A Florida man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the blow that led to the 2009 death of a Louisiana man.

The American Press reports (http://bit.ly/qjfACs ) David Nelson, of Crestview, Fla., was convicted of manslaughter in March for throwing the punch outside a Louisiana nightclub that resulted in the death of 19-year-old Chad Heath, of Longville, La., on March 28, 2009.

Nelson must serve 85 percent of his term before he will be eligible for parole.

State District Judge Kent Savoie sentenced Nelson on Wednesday.
