Boston woman heads to court charged with killing what family described as her favorite uncle

BOSTON — A Boston woman charged with fatally shooting her uncle is scheduled to be arraigned.

Yvonne Lewis faces murder and other charges when she is arraigned Monday on murder and other charges in the weekend shooting of Clive Francis.

Police responding to reports of gunfire found the 49-year-old Francis at a home in the city's Hyde Park neighborhood at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

Police say the 36-year-old Lewis fled the scene in an SUV and was found about five hours later in Peabody.

Family members say the pair was very close, but the relationship had become strained as Lewis struggled with personal issues.
