MISSOULA, Mont. — A longtime lobbyist and medical marijuana advocate has pleaded guilty to a drug charge connected to last year's federal raids on pot providers across Montana.
The Missoulian reports (http://bit.ly/IMXXnb ) that Tom Daubert pleaded guilty Thursday to conspiracy to maintain a drug-involved premises. The charge carries a maximum 20 years in prison if convicted.
A sentencing date has not yet been set.
Daubert is the founder of the advocacy group Patients and Families United. He helped draft the voter-approved initiative to legalize medical marijuana, and he has been a political and communications strategist for more than 30 years.
He was a co-owner of Montana Cannabis, a target in last year's raids of large medical marijuana businesses in the ongoing federal crackdown on the industry in Montana.
