CULBERTSON, Montana — A 30-year-old man from Vail, Arizona, has died after falling off an abandoned deck being dragged around the northeastern Montana town of Culbertson by a pickup truck.

The Montana Highway Patrol says a 40-year-old man from Elgin, Arizona, was driving the pickup at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday when the victim — who was standing on the deck — was thrown off.

Trooper Seth Adams says the driver continued around the block, stopped, detached the deck and left the scene. He returned about an hour later and was cited for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.

The driver was jailed in Wolf Point. The Roosevelt County attorney would determine if any further charges are warranted.

The victim's name hasn't been released. Adams says the accident is still under investigation.
