Missing Maine teen calls home from West Coast; mom says he may have gone to LA seeking fame

LEWISTON, Maine — The mother of an autistic teen in Maine says her missing son has been located in Los Angeles.

James Allen's mother, Laura Dumas, says he called her Wednesday morning.

Dumas said Tuesday that the 18-year-old Allen, who was last seen boarding a Greyhound bus on Sunday, may have believed California would bring him fame and fortune. He doesn't know anybody in California and is out of money.

Lewiston police have contacted police in Los Angeles to get the boy to safety and arrange for his return home.
