February trial scheduled for South Dakota woman accused in beating death of 4-year-old boy

CHAMBERLAIN, South Dakota — A South Dakota woman accused of beating a 4-year-old boy to death because he wet his pants will stand trial next February.

The Daily Republic newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/18YjAOL ) that the trial for 22-year-old Donika Gonzalez, of Gann Valley, was scheduled during a motions hearing Tuesday at the Brule County Courthouse in Chamberlain.

Gonzalez is accused of slapping, kicking, shoving and stomping Mason Naser to death in her home last Feb. 21. Authorities say the boy was the son of the man she was living with.

She has pleaded not guilty to murder, manslaughter, aggravated assault and child abuse charges. She could face life in prison if convicted of murder.
