NY teen faces sentencing in stabbing death of 16-year-old whose body was set on fire

BUFFALO, New York — A Buffalo teenager faces sentencing for his role in the death of another teen who was stabbed more than 50 times and set on fire.

Ezeiekile Nafi is scheduled to appear Wednesday in Erie County Court, where a jury convicted him of first-degree manslaughter earlier this year.

Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita III has said he'll seek the maximum 25 years in prison for the 17-year-old.

Prosecutors say 16-year-old Darren Brown's attackers slashed his throat and stabbed him 54 times before setting his body on fire in what was believed to be a gang-motivated attack.

An 18-year-old co-defendant, Demetrius Huff, pleaded guilty earlier to manslaughter.
