Winter storm warning issued for Black Hills, weather advisory for western areas

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota — Winter weather is expected to descend on western South Dakota in the next couple of days.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the northern Black Hills of South Dakota and a winter weather advisory for the rest of western South Dakota through Tuesday.

The Weather Service has put out a high wind warning for the southwest part of the state for Monday. Blowing snow is expected to develop in the far west, with rain and snow likely in the northeast.

A chance of light snow is expected on Christmas Day.
