ALBANY, New York — State Police have arrested 20 protesters, some of them clergy, who blocked the doors of the New York Senate saying it represents only the wealthy.

Backing issues that range from raising the minimum wage to raising the age of criminal prosecution from 16 to 18, those arrested for disorderly conduct were part of a larger group that gathered in the Capitol chanting for justice now.

Troopers, who knew of the protest in advance, warned those who sat and blocked the doors they would be arrested, which the protesters knew.

Others held signs protesting solitary confinement, hunger and poverty.

The session of the Republican-controlled Senate continued uninterrupted.
