LAKE CITY, South Carolina — Authorities say a 25-year-old Anderson woman was fatally shot while hunting with friends in Florence County, two weeks after getting engaged.

The Florence County Coroner's Office says Samantha Moore was shot about 6:30 p.m. Saturday and died at a hospital.

Capt. Robert McCullough with the state Department of Natural Resources tells the Anderson Independent-Mail that Moore was among a half-dozen people hunting on property in Lake City. As they were trailing a deer, one person carrying a shotgun tripped and fell, and the gun fired.

McCullough says the agency is investigating, but it's believed to be an accident.

Moore's cousin, Misty Moore, told the newspaper (http://bit.ly/13ElTuk ) that Moore's boyfriend since eighth grade proposed on Dec. 13.
