Federal judge in Hawaii allows Christian group to participate in gay marriage legal case

HONOLULU — A federal judge says the Christian organization Hawaii Family Forum may participate in a legal case addressing the issue of gay marriage.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser (http://bit.ly/Ip8xHa ) reported Monday Senior U. S. District Judge Alan Kay ruled the group has established enough of an interest in the laws to warrant the granting of its request to intervene in the case.

Kay says Hawaii Family Forum could assist him in providing a comprehensive and broad analysis of the issues.

The case involves a lawsuit filed against the state by two women of Kapolei, Natasha Jackson and Janin Kleid. The couple says they're being denied their constitutional right to marry. They say they need to be married in order to get certain federal benefits.

Kay says Hawaii Family Forum could assist him in providing a comprehensive and broad analysis of the issues.
