ST. LOUIS — A 33-year-old man shot in the leg by a St. Louis County police officer investigating a reported Kmart robbery has been charged with felony theft and assault on a law enforcement officer.

Duianete Moore of St. Louis was charged Wednesday with one count of stealing over $25,000 worth of jewelry, one count of resisting arrest by fleeing and one count of second-degree assault. He was jailed on a $25,000, cash-only bond.

Police say Moore was shot while trying to drive away from the store and after an officer unsuccessfully tried to subdue him with a stun gun. A second officer shot Moore while he was kneeling in the passenger side of the fleeing SUV.

A police press release says Moore reached for the officer's gun during the scuffle.
