Cuomo appoints lawyer to ethics board who works in company of Cuomo's girlfriend

ALBANY, New York — Gov. Andrew Cuomo is appointing a lawyer to the ethics and lobbying board who works for the TV network which carries the cooking show hosted by the governor's girlfriend, Sandra Lee.

Cuomo appointed lawyer David Arroyo to the state Joint Commission on Public Ethics. JCOPE regulates ethics and lobbying involving the executive and legislative branches.

Arroyo is senior vice president of legal affairs at Scripps Networks Interactive where he manages legal issues involving the company's cable television and broadband media businesses.

Scripps's TV networks include the Food Network, which carries the "Semi-Homemade" shows whose host is Sandra Lee. She shares a house with Cuomo.

Former state lobbying chief David Grandeau (GRAN-doe) says he sees no legal conflict because Scripps isn't a registered lobbyist.
