TURIN, Italy — Charles Hamelin won the 1,000-meter race and helped Canada capture the relay Sunday in short track World Cup speedskating. He finished the weekend with three gold medals.
Hamelin, who won the 500 on Saturday, edged Victor An of Russia by 0.021 seconds to keep his lead in the World Cup standings. Russia's Vladimir Grigorev was third.
In the relay, Canada took control six laps from the end to beat Russia and the Netherlands. It moved to the top of the standings, above the United States, which finished fifth.
In the women's events, World Cup leader Suk-Hee Shim won her third 1,000-meter race this year to lead a 1-2-3 South Korean sweep. South Korea also won its third relay win this season.
