BOGALUSA, Louisiana — A 2-year-old boy has drowned after wandering away from his home in Louisiana.

WAFB-TV (http://bit.ly/1QqR5BS) reports the child drowned in a swampy area leading to the Pearl River in Washington Parish Wednesday. Officers found the child face-down in the water after the toddler was reported missing. Resuscitation efforts were not successful.

The Department of Children and Family Services interviewed the child's mother, grandmother and other children who were at the residence. The family was in the process of relocating from Arkansas to Louisiana. At the time of the child's death, his mother was retrieving belongings from a temporary home in St. Tammany Parish while his grandmother looked after four children.
