Man sentenced to probation after allegedly choking 12-year-old boy

LARAMIE, Wyoming — An Albany County man accused of choking a 12-year-old boy has been sentenced to three years of supervised probation.

The Laramie Boomerang reports ( ) that 37-year-old Chad Wesley Seaton was sentenced Thursday. He previously pleaded no contest to two counts of child abuse in May.

A Laramie police officer responded to a report of domestic violence at an Albany County residence April 5. The officer contacted emergency medical services after learning that Seaton may have choked a young boy in the home.

The boy reportedly had bruises and complained of dizziness and a sore throat.

Both the prosecution and defense had argued for a probation term for Seaton, citing that Seaton had sought out treatment on his own.

Seaton has been ordered to finish his treatment course and avoid alcohol.
