Former Birmingham tax preparer sentenced to 3 years in prison for helping clients hide income

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — A former Birmingham tax preparer has been sentenced to three years in prison for helping clients file fraudulent tax returns.

U.S. Attorney's spokeswoman Peggy Sanford, of the Northern District of Alabama says 65-year-old Sally Elizabeth Wynn helped clients hide income from the IRS between 2005 and 2007.

Wynn, who had prepared taxes for 20 years, is ordered to repay more than $322,800 to the U.S. treasury. Sanford says Wynn owned Centerpoint Financial Services and is ordered to serve a year of probation after her prison sentence.
