Trinity Christian claims Class 3A state title with 27-7 win over American Heritage


ORLANDO, Florida — Chris Barr had an 82-yard touchdown run to lead Jacksonville Trinity Christian to a 27-7 win against Delray American Heritage in the Florida High School Class 3A state championship game Saturday.

The Conquerors (11-2) rushed for 335 yards. American Heritage had four turnovers.

Trinity Christian scored first with 1:43 remaining in the first half when Kevin Toliver scored on a 15-yard quarterback keeper that made it 7-0.

The Conquerors put the game away on a 9-play, 88-yard drive capped by a 1-yard touchdown run from Rasheed Martin to take a 21-0 lead.

The Stallions (11-2) scored on the final play of the game, a 4-yard touchdown run by Bryce Hill.

Toliver had 65 rushing yards on five carries. Devin Singletary led American Heritage with 44 yards on 13 carries.
