Police name suspect in fatal stabbing in DC Metro station

WASHINGTON — District of Columbia police have issued an arrest warrant for a suspect wanted for murder in the stabbing death of a man in a Metro station.

Police say Jasper Spires is wanted for first-degree murder in connection to the death of 24-year-old Kevin Joseph Sutherland, who was stabbed to death in the NoMa-Gallaudet Metro station on the red line.

Police say the stabbing happened at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday aboard a train pulling into the station.

Police say the incident may have occurred during a robbery.
