Suspect charged with murder after man killed in Ocean Boulevard hotel in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina — Authorities say a 49-year-old man has been shot to death in a hotel on Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach.

Police Capt. David Knipes told media outlets that officers arrested 53-year-old Robert Ware several hours later Thursday and charged him with murder.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge said Randy Banks was shot in the chest around 2:30 a.m. Thursday and died at the hotel.

Knipes says the men knew each other, and detectives are trying to figure out what led to the shooting.

Ware remains in jail. It wasn't known if he had a lawyer.
