LAGUNA BEACH, California — Orange County authorities say a 27-year-old man died while freediving at Crystal Cove State Park near Laguna Beach.

The coroner's office says Reseda resident Wesley Kim was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after being pulled from the water Saturday afternoon.

California State Parks spokesman Kevin Pearsall says Kim was one of two men diving about 400 yards from shore and to depths of 45 feet.

Pearsall tells the Orange County Register (http://bit.ly/1Jd4BTq) that when Kim didn't emerge from the water, his companion flagged a passing boat and lifeguards were notified.
