JACKSON, Mississippi — The Mississippi Supreme Court declined Thursday to hear a post-conviction appeal from Terun Moore.
Moore was sentenced to life in prison for killing a Michigan man during an attempted robbery at a Jackson park in 1998. The state Court of Appeals earlier denied Moore's petition.
Moore was convicted in Hinds County in 2001 of capital murder in the death of Michael Maurice Evans, 30, of Detroit. Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty.
Evans was shot in the head during the robbery attempt at Lake Hico Park.
Authorities say Evans had gone to the park with his brother, and the two were planning to leave when the attempted robbery occurred. Bullets were fired as the men drove away, and Evans was hit.
