WHEELING, West Virginia — Tyrhee Pratt threw four touchdown passes to Jordan Kinney and ran for another score to lead Capital to a 55-15 win over neighbor South Charleston for the Class AAA championship on Saturday.

Pratt completed 8 of 11 passes for 175 yards. His TD tosses to Kinney covered 24, 61, 23 and 18 yards.

Kinney had 140 receiving yards. His four scoring catches — one in each quarter — tied a Class AAA championship game. Kinney also had an interception for top-seeded Capital (13-0), which won the fourth state title in school history.

Pratt also had a 67-yard scoring run in the first quarter.

Capital amasses 554 yards of total offense.

No. 6 South Charleston (11-3) was denied its fifth state title. It won back-to-back championships in 2008 and 2009.

The Cougars, who eliminated four-time defending champion Martinsburg in the semifinals, had reached the championship game for the first time since 1996.

South Charleston had advanced to Wheeling Island Stadium despite being without leading rusher A.D. Cunningham, who tore a knee ligament late in the regular season.

On South Charleston's first drive of the game, Chrisjamar Perkins caught a short slant pass from Kentre Grier and turned it into a 47-yard touchdown. But the Black Eagles didn't score again until late in the game on Perkins' 11-yard run.

Capital beat South Charleston 45-21 in September.
